Hearing Set On Yellowstone Area Bison Lawsuit

Posted by nationalforestlawblog on September 21, 2010 at 10:33 PM

The Billings Gazette reports that arguments were heard today in federal court over whether bison should be allowed to roam freely outside Yellowstone National Park.  The government has refused to allow the Yellowstone herd to roam freely because it would allow the herd to transmit disease to private livestock.  Environmental groups filed a 96 page lawsuit against the Forest Service and Department of the Interior to judicially force the policy change.  No reports were available following today's hearing.
