Petition to De-List Great Lakes Wolves

Posted by nationalforestlawblog on September 16, 2010 at 5:29 PM

Although previously derailed by a judge who believed that the agency needed to consider the New England wolf population with the Great Lakes population, the Fish and Wildlife Service announces that removal from the list may be warranted.  See announcement here.  Further Courthouse News Service reports on the petition here.  They note that there are now approximately 5,857 individual gray wolves and 182 breeding packs restored to a small part of the historic range, according to agency information.
