KSTK reports on the Forest Service's decision to reduce the amount of timber sales on the Tongass National Forest. Senator Lisa Murkowski was not pleased. She notes that the second largest mill in Southeast Alaska is now closed. Tidwell attributed to the reduction to the amount of litigation the Forest Service has endured over past timber sales in Alaska. I think a congratulations goes out to the environmentalists, whose litigation strategy of suing over all projects has finally succeeded. The Forest Service has clearly bowed to pressure in Alaska.
